Ceasing Print Delivery in the Maritimes

1.    Why are you cancelling service to this region?

  •     The Globe and Mail has made the difficult decision to cease with physical distribution of our newspaper in your region effective December 1, 2017 due to the rising costs associated with printing and delivery.  We sincerely apologize for any disappointment our decision may cause, and are committed to providing you with alternative and convenient ways of accessing The Globe and Mail’s journalism.

2.    Will I still be able to purchase the print version at the store?

  •     The decision to withdraw physical delivery includes both our home delivery and retail delivery options.

3.    Weren’t there any other options other than cancelling service to this area?

  •     Unfortunately there were not.  Even with increased subscription rates, the combined costs of transportation, and printing were not economically viable.  We truly value our subscribers and are committed to offering alternative ways of continuing to access The Globe and Mail content in a faster and more convenient way.

4.    Don’t you care about people in the Maritimes?

  • We care about all of our readers and did not make this decision lightly.  We want you to continue to be readers and subscribers of The Globe and Mail by offering you a special price to receive Globe2Go, our e-paper of The Globe and Mail, and our website globeandmail.com.
  • Although we are ceasing physical delivery, we are investing in our journalism by adding a reporter in the region

5. When will you be notifying me about the offer?

  •     Details of our digital offer will be sent to affected subscribers in September.

6.    What options do I have to subscribe to The Globe and Mail?

  •     For less than $1 a week, you can still receive the newspaper in its print format by subscribing to our e-paper. You will also receive full access to The Globe and Mail website, which carries all the stories that appear in the newspaper plus many, many more.  Our website offers a terrific reading experience on mobile, tablet and desktop platforms, and our e-paper renders particularly well on desktop and tablet. Both products are available for the combined price of only 99c/week for one year.
